Branding

Whilst embroidery is possibly the longest lasting branding on a garment, we also offer screen printing and dye sublimation. Below you will find overviews of both Embroidery and Screen Printing branding methods with some interesting information.

EMBROIDERY FACTS

Embroidery was once considered an expensive form of Branding, but over the past years with the introduction of improved machinery, this has changed, and now it is the most recognised method to add a logo to any item of clothing plus is also used to brand many other items.

Williamson International have invested heavily in high speed computerised multi colour machines and all our embroidery is carried out in house, ensuring the highest quality and our ability to have total control of the production process.

BENEFITS OF EMBROIDERY

  • Cost effective for small runs.
  • Enhances any garment and embroidered garments make a statement, plus enhance yor company profile.
  • Enables designs with complex detail to be reproduced with ease.
  • Embroidery generally exceeds the life of the product it is added to.
  • Quality imported polyester threads ensure a high standard of colourfastness.

SIZE LIMITATIONS

The embroidery process does have its limitations and it is important to remember the following points.

  • Lettering should be kept to a minimum height of 5mm to maintain the clarity.
  • Logos for caps should not exceed 5.5cm x 10cm on the front and 3.0cm x 9cm on the back.
  • Logos for Shirts and Blouses can be as large as necessary as long as there is sufficient space on the garment, in most situations the logo on the front of a garments or on the pocket would be a maximum of 6cm x 9cm.
  • Logos can be added to the back of a garment and the maximum size should be kept under 28cm in width.

SCREEN PRINTING FACTS

Screen-printing has always been considered a cost effective method to add Branding to clothing, this process has not changed much in the last 20 years and it is still a reliable method for branding.

ADVANTAGES OF SCREEN PRINTING

  • Cost effective for larger designs, such as on the back of a shirt, or large logo on the front of a Tee Shirt.
  • Printed designs can be multi coloured, but due to the printing process it is advisable to keep to 3 or 4 at most.
  • Extremly cost effective for volume runs and when requireing cost effective branding on promotional items.

LIMITATIONS

The screen printing process does have its limitations and it is important to remember the following points.

  • Preferable for designs without high detail, as this might be lost during the printing process.
  • Screen printing may fade or wear over time.
  • Preferable for designs with a maximum of 4 colours.

SET-UP CHARGES

There is a small initial charge to set up your logo so it can be printed.

The set up charge covers the creation of the screens to print the order. The screens are extremely bulky, therefore if a repeat order is not placed within 6 months of initial order, the printer will generally destroy these screens for storage purposes. Arrangements may be made in certain circumstances (ie a regular purchaser) for the screens to be held indefinately. If the screens surpass the time frame and are destroyed, there will charges when the repeat order is placed.

Set up charges are also dependant on the number of colours used in the design, as a separate screen must be made for each and every colour that is being printed.

ART REQUIREMENTS

Vector created art to size, file formats accepted are Adobe Illustrator, and CorelDraw, all versions 11 and below. High resolution (at least 300dpi) jpeg clear scan if image to be printed.

If you are unable to supply your artwork in any of the above formats there may be an artwork charge as your design many need to be redrawn. Details of these charges are listed in our Branding section.
